Beat the Heat Entry

I think this is a wrap I didn't go wild on the shading, so I'll just count these as flat.

"C'mon, Sky's out for a bit. Let's go for a run in the Sound!" Aggie tossed her head in glee, eyeing the loose lock on the paddock she shared with her sire and Firefly. Pip hesitated, lightly pawing the ground before painting a smirk across his slightly chubby face. Neighing in delight, Aggie pushed past Pip, carefully working the padlock with her tongue and teeth until it popped free. Finally raising her head, Firefly's nostrils flared at the open gate, and she propelled into a gallop, shoving past the younger mare in her haste.

Free once more, the trio dashed past the scantly-occupied stable ground and the short stretch of asphalt to the beach. Hooves sinking into the sand, Firefly stumbled, making Aggie ram into her rump chest-first. Pip slid to a stop just short of his filly, chin whiskers tickling her back. Snorting, he backed up to the side, letting the two mares untangle themselves in a mess of pink, green, and brown. Chortling quietly, he nipped Firefly's ear teasingly, making her eyes widen before becoming slits. "Oh no you didn't!" she called, hefting up and swatting Aggie with her tail as she gave chase to the rambunctious stallion.
