Description
Browbands are mostly for stability in keeping the bridle in place, but I think this one has enough security in that department to take the browband out

Story: 351 words
Gently tapping Rain with her crop, Sky nudged him into a canter to approach the second to last jump, a simple hedge. They had gone over this jump it seemed a thousand times, so the stallion should have no trouble. Sky grinned, the pair having an almost perfect run so far. Rain had almost drifted a little too far to the left leading up to one jump so it was a little awkward going over. His hind legs brushed the rail, which wavered but fortunately didn't fall. As the stallion sped towards the jump, Sky noticed a little monarch butterfly land amidst the branches. How the cute thing had gotten into the arena she wasn't sure but she smiled as the butterfly's delicate wings fluttered.
Shifting to lean over Rain's neck, Sky prepped for the stallion to take off when he suddenly threw his head back in terror and practically sat in the dirt as he skidded to a stop. Sky made a mad grab for his mane, only to miss it by a hair's breadth and fall off behind Rain. Rolling out from behind him, Sky rocked to her feet and made to grab the reins, missing as the stallion wheeled around to run from the jump. Flabbergasted, Sky gaped at the stallion for a moment before running to catch up. What the heck had gotten into him?! The stallion made for the door leading outside, Sky sighing in relief as she saw Brownie was already there, ready to block Rain. Even when scared, the stallion had never intentionally hurt any of his handlers.
Rain skidded to a stop right before Brownie, dirt puffing around him in a cloud. She spoke soothing words to him and gently started calming him down with pets. As Sky walked over to the pair, she tried to figure out what had gone wrong. They were lined up square in the middle of the hedge, there was nothing unusual about it except- Sky couldn't help but laugh. The butterfly? Big bad Rain was afraid of butterflies? The creatures weren't even as big as his muzzle!
